Multimedia Fountain

The work made an ironic reference to the most obvious trope in the history of contemporary art. Duchamp’s Fountain from 1914 is a classical work known to all, not only experts in the field. A child’s potty which played songs, displayed in the main hall of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, may be interpreted in the following way: the level of teaching reflects the level of art. The title of the work refers to Wrocław’s cultural policy. Inasmuch as Multimedia Fountain is a lame joke from the area of low-brow culture, the fountain by the Centennial Hall makes a joke of high-brow culture.
