“Before national socialists took power in Wrocław,  Jewish art collectors used to live here.  They played a leading role on the cultural  scene of the Weimar Republic. By purchasing  masterpieces that had previously been  shown only by the most prestigious galleries  in Berlin or Paris, personalities such as Carl  Sachs, Ismar Littmann or Max Silberg made  it possible for the Lower Silesian capital to  develop. Due to the activeness of patrons of  the arts, the collection in Wrocław was among  the biggest in Germany at that time.”
