Inmates

As part of her Inmates project, Smyła attempted to move those plants that we normally consider weeds from urban green areas (squares, flower beds, etc.) inside the Riot Police barracks in Wrocław.
Thus the main idea of the project is to cleanse the city of elements that have been deemed undesirable by the system, and to move them to a place where the “pests” can be isolated. It is worth remembering, though, that the term “weeds” can be misleading, and their “harmfulness” is far from obvious – for instance due to their alleviating properties, which are not always known. The presence of weeds in an environment is an important element of the proper functioning of the entire ecosystem.
