Old Man’s Ride

Old Man’s Ride is a filmic improvisation. Three adults play minors who steal a car and race around the city at night. Both the style of the film and its content make a reference to short films that have recently been flooding YouTube – recordings that document teenagers enjoying “prohibited acts.” Although they consider these acts to be immensely brave, they are in fact of little interest to anyone. Cieślak’s work can thus be interpreted as commentary on subjects concerning the teenagers’ need to show off and demonstrate their nonchalance as well as the increasingly popular, even desperate desire of young people to become visible in the vastness of the Internet.
