Walking stick tree, 2020

  • sculpture

To quote the artist, the sculpture is the globetrotter’s prop, mockingly rooted in the ground. The object becomes a provocative model, a relic reminding us of the freedom of movement that we used to enjoy. The shape of the sculpture triggers associations with a dead tree, which is always the opposite of vitality. A walking stick “growing” out of concrete seems to be a symbol of the end of all journeys.
