The unstable and fragile railing of Patrycja Dąbrowska’s work was assembled on stairs which – because of an ongoing alteration of the ramp at the back of the bunker – led to nowhere. Both objects were removed from their function. Their usefulness (and purposefulness) was, for various reasons, taken away from them, showing a metaphorical dimension of a road to eternity (or void). Although it definitely was not the artist’s aim, the way of exhibiting the object might have posed questions about the relationship between an item and an idea – a work of art and inspiration. Dąbrowska’s realisation was a sketch, an item’s note about itself.
