It is generally believed that children see the world as a carefree, idyllic and safe place. However, prohibited contents are often smuggled into this world. Adults’ inappropriate actions seen by children can distort their natural development and trigger negative emotions. One of the areas where these emotions may be released is children’s artistic creativity. Sometimes the infantile drawings or paintings hide disturbing contents.
Gierlak and Zawada’s installation makes a reference to popular play areas that we sometimes see in local clinics, banks or waiting rooms.
