“The desire to grow richer, which is ‘present’  in the symbolic gesture of rubbing a coin,  emphasises the dangerous causative power  of such expectations. The history of the gesture  is longer than the myth about Midas,  who changed into gold whatever he touched.  Greed that focuses attention and efforts on  one’s interests could obscure selfless relationships  and prompt the afflicted individual  to look for infinity in the wrong places. The  vice used to be considered a form of idolatry  for a reason – it forces an individual to  bow to something that is not worth it. The  installation is an attempt to look for the moment  when the human desire to possess is  finally satiated.”
