Zen Zone

The inspiration behind the „Zen Zone” installation was provided by a peculiar practice used in some corporations, e.g. in Starbucks. It consists in purchasing access to meditation apps for employees fighting for better employment conditions instead of fulfilling their demands. Amazon has gone a step further by building the AmaZen, a small kiosk for employees to relax and enjoy contemplation. This practice is one of the most brazen manifestations of ignoring employees’ mental wellbeing while pretending (not very convincingly) that it is the other way around.

Steeped in irony, „Zen Zone” is a prototype of an obligatory meditation zone intended for office workers. It is decorated with relaxing motifs and equipped with an air freshener that looks like a rock and a huggable table with arms to help reduce stress and increase productivity.
