An underground passage, and a man is running in it. Two exits opposite each other. The man is running from one to the other in great haste, as if his life was at stake. But he is not leaving the passage, he is not getting out. He is on a pitch, playing a game which seems to be without an end. Szymon Wojtyła’s video was showed in a locker room, inside a closet hanging between two windows with a symmetrical view of both halves of the ‘Oławka’ main pitch. This trick emphasised the melancholic stillness outside, which was in sharp contrast to the pointless effort made by the man in the video. Both perspectives, when combined, hinted primarily at enclosure, alienation, but also conventionality and repetitiveness as fundamental attributes of a game.
