Fifty Per Cent Trees

One of the installations connected with the field of land art, which interfered with the landscape on a fragmentary dimension, was Szymon Wojtyła’s work entitled Fifty Per Cent Trees. Geometrical blocks made from prepared leaves bonded together with water were added to the landscape without disturbing its harmony. The lumps, although created as a result of a long and tiresome process of forming and despite their considerable size, conveyed an impression of belonging to the place, being connected with its character and beauty. Sudden changes of weather conditions during the several days when the festival lasted contributed to a slow decay of the composition. The attractive arrangement gradually lost its dense shape and revealed falling layers of leaves, twigs and grass.
